I am a licensed graduate clinical counselor and a certified school counselor. I provide mental health therapy services to children, adolescents and adults to address a wide variety of mental and emotional stressors.  I have worked in private and public school settings providing individual, and group therapy.

Sonya Sutton, MS, LGPC   

My Approach

     As a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor, Sonya brings a wealth of experience providing mental health support and therapeutic interventions. For well over a decade, she has served as a Professional School Counselor, helping students and their families process significant emotions and adjust to major life changes. She is an attentive listener, who specializes in meeting her clients where they are and providing the tools necessary for their personal elevation. Sonya believes in empowering her clients to overcome challenges in order to implement consistent progress and sustainable change toward an improved quality of life.

      An alumnus of the Johns Hopkins University Master of Science in Counseling program, she is always continuing her professional development so that she can implement the best and/or most innovative practices to meet her client's needs. Her commitment to care extends to each and every

one she encounters - her students, friends, and family. Outside of the therapeutic setting, she enjoys

I am a licensed graduate professional counselor who works with adults, couples, families, and adolescents. Life can be messy, and together we can work through it as we develop a trusting relationship to promote growth and healing. With experience as a professional school counselor, I am skilled in working with adolescents experiencing both social and academic challenges.   


My clinical interests include perinatal mental health, trauma, intimate partner violence, sexual assault, anxiety, and couples counseling. My style is centered on creating a genuine therapist-client relationship using a strengths-based, person-centered approach with a dose of humor, hope, and encouragement.  As a therapist, I am committed to providing a safe, non-judgemental space where you can meet your goals and live the life you’ve imagined.
